INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO THE HISTORY OF THE CRUSADES THROUGH CASTLES IN CILICIA AND THE AMANIOS
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevtap Gölgesiz Karaca's project numbered 324K658 titled "Innovative Approaches to the History of the Crusades through Castles in Cilicia and the Amanos" has been awarded support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 3005- Innovative Solutions Research Projects Support Program in Social and Human Sciences.
This two-year project will be carried out in a total of four provinces, Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye and Hatay, and field studies, literature reviews and computer-based analyses will be conducted in 12 castles.
The project will be consulted by historian Dr. Nicholas Morton from England; archaeologist Dr. Balázs Major from Hungary, archaeologist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün Karaca from Trakya University, architect Dr. Aslı Zencirkıran, archaeologist research assistant Osman Vuruşkan and historian Dr. Muhittin Çeken from Aydın Adnan Menderes University will take part as researchers.
This study, which will be conducted by an interdisciplinary and international team, aims to comprehensively examine the material culture remains of Anatolia during the Crusades.
